The Rookwood Bar and Restaurant was one of the original design concepts to begin the movement you see in Cincinnati today. Back in 2008 you could only dream about what the city might be. There were very few dining options available, and investments were not being made in food and entertainment.

However, Joe always had a vision. An exciting idea to build the city to include fine dining, nightlife, and small businesses. The Rookwood was one of the first of its kind.  Handmade craft cocktails weren’t done here. They started out creating their own custom ice cubes back before the molds even existed for purchase. Homemade syrups and new flavors enticed guests and introduced them to something they hadn’t had before.

New entrepreneurs started their careers on the ground floor showcasing their products including, Jeni’s Ice cream, Rhinegeist Brewery, Hen of the Woods, and more. The Rookwood’s iconic style began many trends which are still popular today. Check out our journal for more.
