Featured in Cincinnati Magazine, for the second time, this Historic Dayton Street Renovation project will most certainly always be a favorite of ours. We purchased the property with a dream of one day transforming it into our home. Joe’s passion has always been reviving and celebrating Cincinnati and its history. When searching for a property on Dayton Street, formerly known as Millionaire’s Row, we drove down the street daily. Many talks of “one day” and “what if’s” were had, as we gushed over each and every beautiful piece of history.

We’ve always felt a special energy in the area as if the homes could speak to tell you their stories. The first time we walked into 909 Dayton street we knew that was it. The arched doorways, large windows, and stunning architectural features called to us. In 2018, our daughter was born at home on Dayton Street, forever marking the house as a sacred place to us. Here are a few personal photos from our time spent there.

We created this custom paint color with copper embellishments to compliment the beautiful gas lantern. We couldn’t have known at the time how popular this color scheme would become in the city. You might say it started a trend.historic dayton street renovationhistoric dayton street renovationThroughout the house we found unique vintage pieces to compliment each space. The pot rack was originally from National Exemplar. We really loved pairing all oft he vintage touches with modern conveniences like an updated kitchen and bathrooms.historic dayton street renovationEasily our favorite room in the house, the kitchen made the greatest transformation. It started as a tiny dark back room, but we exposed the brick and blew out the back wall. Adding old school house doors flooded the room with light and led you to the backyard.

One day we will dig up our before photos to share side by side. This Historic Dayton Street Renovation project was a labor of love and quite an interesting project for two newly weds. We were very sad to move and think about it often.
