168 Fleming: Mid-Century Modern Retreat in the Heart of Wyoming, Ohio

Some homes tell you who they are the moment you walk in. 168 Fleming did that to me. Windows wrap all around, walking out to a private, wooded yard that catches the most peaceful evening light, and I caught myself wanting to kick off my shoes and start baking barefoot on the hardwood in that gourmet kitchen before I’d even finished the walkthrough. That kind of instant, physical reaction is exactly what mid-century modern design was built to do. This style came out of the 1950s and 60s with one simple idea: let the light in, blur the line between inside and out, and strip away anything that gets in the way of how a space actually feels to live in. Walking through this home, I felt all of it, the low, clean rooflines, the way the living room opens straight into the yard, the sense that the architecture itself was doing the work instead of hiding behind ornamentation.

The Vision

I had the best time staging this one with my two longtime friends by my side, hanging photos of sailboats, books on local birds, souvenirs from trips to Belize. Every room tells a story here, soft, interesting, artistic, and it’s the kind of storytelling that mid-century homes seem to invite more than most. So many books have lived on these shelves, and so many years of a family raising kids and making memories in this exact spot. Their daughter wanted me to share that the space under the basement stairs was her special hideout growing up, and honestly, that’s the kind of detail that tells you everything about a house like this.

Wyoming is one of my favorite pockets of Cincinnati for exactly this reason, it’s quietly full of beautiful architecture tucked onto wooded, private lots, all walkable to Wyoming Community Coffee, local dining, and schools consistently top rated in Ohio. Homes like this don’t come up often here, and I always feel lucky when I get to be the one telling their story.
